Senior Program Officer, Health System Strengthening – Uttar Pradesh, Gates FoundationDr. Gunjan Taneja, a medical doctor with post-graduation training in Community Medicine and having more than 15 years of experience of district, state and national level work in India, Dr. Gunjan Taneja is presently working as Senior Program Officer, Health System Strengthening (HSS) – Uttar Pradesh at the Gates Foundation (BMGF) India Country Office. As the SPO HSS-UP, Gunjan is responsible for designing and facilitating the implementation of the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) portfolio of investments in Uttar Pradesh. Prior to this role Gunjan was working as a Program Officer in the Infectious Disease cluster at BMGF and coordinated the work on immunization coverage and equity with a specific focus on Zero Dose children, urban immunization and COVID vaccine roll out. Gunjan started his career supporting the immunization program in the state of Jharkhand (India) at John Snow Inc (JSI) and then worked at JSI and IPE Global across the RMNCH+A spectrum supporting national and multiple state governments design, plan, monitor, implement and scale up RMNCH+A interventions. Being an avid writer, Gunjan has more than 25 publications in international and national journals with multiple presentations at national and international conferences. His interest areas include Health Systems Strengthening (HSS), RMNCH+A, Immunization, urban health, health economics, epidemiology and implementation science among others. Dr. Gunjan is also the first recipient of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Young Leader’s Oration Award and the IAPSM Presidential Appreciation Award.
